This fruit pizza desert is truly really easy to make! I brought to a party and it disappeared, even before the chocolate items did! So talk about popular – you can’t miss with this.
Trying to be health conscious, I like to use the low fat cream cheese and sour cream.
I also use real butter (my preference), but you could substitute your alternative as well.
Preheat the oven to 400.
8 oz. of low-fat cream cheese, cut into two 4 oz. blocks.
1/4-1/3 cup of sour cream,
1 stick of butter,
1 cup of flour,
1/4 cup of powdered sugar,
3 TBSP of regular sugar or your favorite sweetener, such as Splenda
1 TBSP of milk, or a milk substitute (soy milk could work too)
fruit of your choice – use several kinds for best results.
Mix 1/2 of the cream cheese (4 oz) with 1 stick of the butter until it is creamy (you can soften it a little in the microwave).
Blend it very well with 1 cup flour and 1/4 cup of powder sugar.
Chill the dough for at least 1/2 hour.
Roll the chilled dough into a 13″ round. Press it down onto a 12″ pizza pan and carefully crimp the edges. Prick holes into it with a fork.
Bake it at 400 for 15 minutes.
Cool it on a rack when it is done.
Cream together the other items: 1/2 (4 oz) cream cheese, 1 TBSP milk, 3 TBSP sugar, and 1/4+ sour cream.
Then spread it out evenly over the crust, all the way to the edges.
Place the fruit on top, in an artistic way.
Fruit suggestions: kiwi slices, strawberries and other berries, peaches.
This would be a fun recipe for elderly who are wanting a dessert with some health to it, and also is perfect for all kinds of parties! You can even put in different kinds of fruits for the occasion, such as red, white and blue for patriotic festivities. Or add in a little colored candy such as green for the Christmas season. Lots of red would go well for Valentine’s Day. So there are certainly plenty of ideas to use a fruit pizza dessert for!
